Goodnight by Mary Burns

GOODNIGHT
By Mary Burns

Across the sky the stars do play,
sparkling in their quiet games,
till Father Wind and Mother Rain
beckon it is time for bed.

Gently, slowly, one by one,
are children tucked into their beds,
covered by a cloudy blanket
over shining sleepy-heads.

Goodnight, little stars, sleep tight,
shine bright for me tomorrow night.
