Natural leaf carving is an art form that originated in China.  Fallen autumn leaves are selected (leaves from the Chinar tree are preferred) and the surface of the leaf is slowly scraped away, leaving the veins intact.  This careful painstaking process can last as long as several months to produce one leaf carving.  The delicate beauty of a leaf carving is the product of patience and skill.
